Helen Iswolsky (1896–1975)

Helen Iswolsky was one of the leading intellectual lay persons among the Russian emigre communities in the West, and was one of God's gifts to the Russian Byzantine Catholic Church. We at St. Michael's remember her fondly; the late Anastasia Zhouravlieff Paul of our community used to recount gatherings of Helen, Catherine, and Dorothy. Helen's work stands by itself. Thus, we can pay no greater tribute to Helen lswolsky than to make available for you some excerpts from the memorial edition of her journal, «The Third Hour», thus sharing some of the commemorations of those who knew her so well and enabling you to read some of her important essays.
